As a Catholic high school student, it is my goal to grow not only as a student but as a whole person—mind, body, and soul. This growth mindset led me to attend Cristo Rey OKC Catholic High School where I receive a world-class Catholic education while building real-world experience through a work study program that allows me to earn the majority of my own tuition. Joining The Program College Consulting was a decision I made in my Sophomore year. Since making that decision, I’ve learned of specialized tests I will need to take before applying for engineering programs in certain universities that I hadn’t heard of before. Mrs. Deanna also fosters in us transferrable skills that will carry us to success in college and through life. By walking us through the college admissions process, she teaches us how to manage our time, be proactive, hold ourselves accountable, and dream big as we practice blocking out our time, setting deadlines for ourselves, and critically-thinking about how current events affect our college practice.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, I have received crucial information regarding the amount of scholarships available to me before I graduate in 2022. With Cristo Rey OKC and the help of my dear friend Mrs. Renee Porter, I had the opportunity to attend a leadership program in Puebla, Mexico. There, I learned the meaning of the phrase duc in altum, or ‘cast out into the deep.’ Ultimately, Mrs. Deanna guides us on the college journey because she is preparing us to cast out into the deep. Thanks to her work and time teaching us, I believe we will become leaders who will cast out into the deep and change the world around us.

I first met Deanna at the beginning of my senior year of high school. My parents had heard of her and how she helped kids get to college and also get scholarships. So we called and asked if I could be apart of her college-prep course and without a doubt, it was one of the best decisions of my life. She opened up what seemed like a new world to me of options of where I could go to school. Because of Deanna I now have a college degree completely debt free. If you are thinking about going through Deanna’s college prep course do it I promise you will never regret it.

I feel so blessed that we heard about the program early. My daughter was in the 9th grade when we received the information. We were one of the first to sign up when it was time for her to go through. I had no idea where to start and I can’t tell you what a relief it was to be taken step by step through the whole process. My daughter had her choice of schools when we were done. Be aware this program is a lot of work and Deanna teaches the kids how to do things themselves, she does not do it for them. As a result, my daughter is currently a successful freshman at an amazing private college.
